KANYE WEST’S DONDA ACADEMY REQUIRES PARENTS TO SIGN NDA AGREEMENTS

If you haven’t heard by now, Kanye West has stepped into another realm…education. The rapper has opened an ultra-private Christian school in the Simi Valley, named after his mother. However, the entrepreneur is not taking any changes with privacy and security. At Kanye West’s Donda Academy, parents are required to sign NDA agreements before their students can attend the school.

An NDA, a non-disclosure agreement is, according to Thomas Reuters, a legally enforceable agreement between parties that are used to ensure that certain information will remain confidential.

Once parents have signed their NDA’s, the doors open up to Kanye’s world of education.

As Rolling Stones reports, Donda Academy, will accept students from pre-k to 12th grade. The young learners will wear uniforms consisting entirely of pieces from West’s designs while attending classes that include choir and parkour.

Malik Yusef, who is a long-time collaborator of West’s, also helped to shape The Donda Academy. In the Rolling Stones interview Yusef said that, “Kayne’s whole ideology is about freedom, and freerunning is a great way for the kids to exercise and exert themselves and use their energy without feeling competitive…We don’t necessarily want to force kids to be as competitive; we want them to experience their own self-efficacy and then gauge from there who they are.”

So, just how much does it cost to attend the Donda Academy? Well, the price tag for tuition is $15K annually. However, about half of the students attending have been awarded financial assistance or scholarships, primarily funded by West’s personal network. The student body has thus far welcomed fewer than 100 students.

In addition to choir and parkour, are math and English on the lesson plans? Well, according to The Donda Academy website, yes they are!

“Each day, Donda students learn fundamentals, grow in their faith, and experience two enrichment classes.” Students follow a daily schedule of “full school worship, core classes of language arts, math, and science, lunch & recess, and enrichment courses, including world language, visual art, film, choir, and parkour.”

However, as a result of the secrecy surrounding the school and the NDA agreements, that’s about all that we know about curriculum and activities to date.
