AOKI LEE SIMMONS WALKS RUNWAY AT NEW YORK FASHION WEEK

Aoki Lee Simmons is making quite the mark at New York Fashion Week (NYFW). Not only did Kimora Lee Simmons’ youngest daughter attend the Harper’s Bazaar Icon Party but Aoki also had the opportunity to walk the runway during Sergio Hudson’s show and Tommy Hilfiger’s show.

“Did this happen,” Aoki asked on her Instagram page after the show. “Thank you so much @sergiohudson for including me in your masterpiece of a show,” the young adult wrote to the designer. “I was the youngest model in your lineup last night, surrounded by women I have grown up watching on the runway, feeling completely out of my depth,” Aoki admitted. “Your clothes pulled something out of me I didn’t know I had. Thank you for trusting me to do them justice,” the rising model wrote to Hudson.

Aoki Lee Simmons expressed her desire to pursue modeling after finishing her undergraduate studies at Harvard University a few weeks back. Some scrutinized her decision seeing as how she would have a degree from an Ivy League school. Aoki, however, stood her ground.

“I would like to change the idea that you can’t be smart and pretty, or you can’t be smart and enjoy your looks or enjoy a creative, beauty- [and] fashion-based career,” Aoki shared. “You can be two kinds of people in one person,” the young adult added. “Do whatever you want,” she continued.

“Get a degree; don’t use it. Get a degree; use it later … Get a degree later. Don’t get one — do whatever you want to do,” Aoki advised her supporters and critics. “And nothing is a waste of your talent,” she declared.

Aoki Lee Simmons has been putting her talents to great use while working alongside her older sister, Ming Lee Simmons,” to rebuild Baby Phat. In fact, the brand recently partnered with Puma for a new line.

New York Fashion Week began on Friday, September 9, 2022. The event ends of Wednesday, September 14, 2022.
